Inspired by the eclosion of a silkworm, this form study explored the beauty of tension using wire frames and nylon fabric. The interplay between structure and material created unexpected yet rational sculptural forms.
The prototypes were divided into four groups: Birth (生), Germination (长), Struggle (滞), and Eclosion (破)—each embodying a different stage of transformation. By carefully balancing the tension between the rigid wire and the soft, stretchable nylon, I developed a unique structural language that shaped each form.
The natural expansion and contraction of the materials led to surprising sculptural outcomes, embodying a delicate balance of YIN and YANG. This study not only explored form and materiality but also became an inspiration for automotive design—and beyond.
