MooiMist is a biomaterial-based, artistic aroma diffuser with color-coded olfactory notation providing a multi-sensory experience, and inclusively benefits smell-disordered users, especially post-pandemic, with 50-70% of convalescents suffering from decreased or distorted smell requiring visual-coded aromatherapy assistance for recovery.
MooiMist fabricates a fluid interface where the mist wreaths like waterfalls and the scents blend in sequence. Detachable diffuser panels accommodate a variety of essential oils, isolating the oil from the water and electronic components to prevent damage to the mist generator.
Why does it look the way it does?
Inspired by Chinese backflow incense, MooiMist fabricates a fluid interface where the mist wreaths like waterfalls and the scents blend harmoniously.
The overall shape presents subtly profound grace and reflects the iconic zen forms: “云遮月”, the clouds across the moon; and “雾隐花”, flowers hidden in the mist.
How does it engage the user?
Twelve diffuser panels have three locations with four colors each. When installed in sets, they guild the mist through, and emit the blended scent combination in sequence. The four colors link to categories of odor prism: flowery (rose), fruity (lemon), spicy (clove), and resinous (eucalyptus), which are commonly used in olfactory therapy.
Usability
MooiMist combines natural wood diffusing and vapor diffusing, providing a long-lasting aroma with ever-changing notes. Users can simply switch among different scent combinations by curating the panels and connecting them to the base ring through auto-locking magnets.
Efficiency & User benefit
Detachable diffuser panels are compatible with diverse essential oils. Naturally separating the oil from the water and electronic parts averts the chance of damaging the mist generator.
The separated water tank is easy to refill and clean, and facilitates a lightweight, artistic wooden ring shell that brings natural touch.
